Taiji Dolphin Slaughter Starting September 1st

Starting September 1st, a hunt for 2,000 dolphins will take place
in Taiji, Japan inside the infamous 'Cove'. These dolphins, found by Japan going through migration routes, are corralled by fisherman then sold to aquariums around the world, and then slaughtered inside a secret cove. This must be stopped. For more info, go to SaveJapanDolphins.org!

Education Not Looking So Smart?

I was notified today of a story that s just truly sad, wrong, immoral, and broke my heart. No killing was involved directly, but it is about the dolphins in Taiji, Japan. This was an update from Kerry O'Brien (Lead the protest in Auckland, New Zealand) :

“My Alexandra came and stood up for Dolphins with me on Sept 1st. I find today she was ridiculed at school for doing Dolphin stuff and told it could be regarded as truancy by a certain teacher in front of class mates. Must I take on the NZ education system for my rights as a parent to educate my child as I wish? ..as well as the Japanese Govt!!!”
It seems now that the school systems and education centers are in on the killing, as is the government. For a teacher to call it truancy for a child working to save dolphins and doing activities that involve dolphins, is an absolute outrage! The school systems are the last place many activists would hope the plague of greed would reach, but I think it has. I also have another theory on why this occurred though...
I think another possibility is that a staff in the New Zealand school system is possibly pro- dolphin slaughter. I think whoever is truly behind what happened above, has maybe realized the power of children, and the willpower they have to stick to something they are passionate about. I think they could have realized that it is becoming extremely evident of whats going on and they are trying to use the above to possibly cover it up a little bit or to simply cause trouble out of spite. These are just the few ideas I have on the subject. (You may comment your thoughts)

  1. Hello Freedom for Marine Mammals. I commend your spirit, dedication and drive to protect the marine mammals and in particular, those who are exploited and killed by man in his negligence and greed. Thank you for this post in support of one fellow teen who was ostricized and ridiculed by the school administrative staff and other kids. I know that there are schools in support of protection of marine life, and it saddens me to think that there are others who are ignorant to the fact of what is happening with the dolphins. It seems that very few countries are pro killing of dolphins and whales. With education and awareness we strive for this to no longer a fact and a thing of the past. Thank you for helping to make this happen by your blogs. Cheryl Gordon/ aka Muffyjo on the web
